The majority of students in the graphic design studies are women. However, the professional world is dominated by male Graphic designers: They lead most of the well-known agencies, are part of the design juries, and have bigger representation at conferences. It seems like there is a gender imbalance in the graphic design industry.
In a dialogue with graphic designers from different countries around the world, we spoke about the causes and the solutions for this imbalance. The aim was not only to talk to already successful female graphic designers but also to discuss to what extent young designers are aware of the problem. The interviews are reproduced in the publication. Besides the interviews, a special emphasis was placed on the role models of the interviewees.
